The perfect rainbow
We've had a lot of rain this month. June has been gloomy and soggy. As I type this, it's another overcast day with thunderstorms in the forecast. It makes it hard to plan outdoor summer activities with rain looming on the horizon. Last Friday, we had a major storm blow through that included wind gusts up to 70 mph! The sky looked as though it was midnight when it was really only 3 in the afternoon. It was somthing!
The other night while driving to get groceries in the rain, we noticed to the west how bright and sunny it was. However, to the east it was dark and ominous looking. It looked as though the first part of our block had rain and the other half didn't. With rain on one side and sunny skies on the other, I knew it was the perfect recipe for a rainbow. Low and behold, there it was. Actually, it was a double rainbow. The most vibrant rainbows I've seen in years. The colors popped against the dark sky. Owen was thrilled to see such a marvelous sight. It's fun seeing things for the first time with him. It's like reliving my childhood all over again. I was all giddy with excitement too!
There's something about a beautiful rainbow after a large rainfall. A little bit of something happy after something that is so dreary.
June gloom can stick around as long as it promises a backdrop like this again!
